Our Wedding

The Beginning

Lydia and Matt’s story began in Seattle, Washington, where a friendship slowly turned into something more. In January 2023, they started going on dates, and by March—after several sushi dates at some of Seattle’s best spots—Matt made it official. What started as easy companionship quickly grew into a deep connection built on trust, laughter, and a genuine love of being together.

Over the next couple of years, Seattle became the backdrop for some of their favorite memories together—whether skiing in the winter, exploring the city and Pacific Northwest, or just trying out as many restaurants around town as they could, they fell into an easy rhythm of adventure, laughter, and supporting one another through both highs and challenging but critical moments that brought them closer together.

As their relationship progressed, they realized they shared the same dream of moving back to the East Coast to be closer to family. In April 2025, they took that step together, relocating to Charlotte, where they’ve since built a life with new friendships, career next steps, regular family visits, and cozy movie marathon days at home with their cat, Millie.

The Proposal

Their love culminated in a perfect proposal planned by Matt in Sorrento, Italy, atop Monte San Costanzo Termini on the Amalfi Coast. After saying yes, they wandered the streets, explored art shops, met locals, and indulged in Italian pastries and espresso.

They’re so excited to celebrate with the people they love most as they begin the next chapter together and can’t WAIT to see you in Birmingham!

In the heart of downtown Birmingham, this budget-friendly option is recommended for those looking to be close to restaurants, bars, and more. The Hotel is under renovation as the hotel transitions to The Tutwiler – “a DoubleTree Hotel”. The transition is scheduled to take place prior to the your arrival so the Hampton breakfast will not be included in the rate.
